"Make up"by Marcel·la Barceló
msbb has recently hung in its second floor Drawing Gallery, "Maquillage", 2015, a work by Marcel·la Barceló. The young artist was awarded the Contemporary Drawing Prize discerned by the National School of Fine Arts of Paris (Ensba) in May 2015.
“I would like to create a world which illusion would immediately be denounced, like any aquarium would announce it to us by feigning an ideal of nature to better introduce itself in our walls. The protagonists who live in the stage designs of my drawings do the same thing, they dress up, makeup and hide, pretend, to better escape from their own reality and some kind of truth that their world would impose.”
Marcel·la Barceló is the daughter of the great Majorcan artist Miquel Barceló.
