Enrique Juncosa

Enrique Juncosa, born 1961 in Palma. He is a poet, writer, exhibition curator and cultural manager. He currently resides in Mallorca.

From 2003 to 2012 he was director of the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin, for which he was awarded the Order of Civil Merit. Previously, he had been deputy director of the IVAM, Valencia, and also of the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid. He has curated exhibitions in museums such as the Whitechapel Art Gallery and Tate Britain, London; Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin; MAXXI, Rome; Musée des Beaux- Arts, Nantes; Fundación Gulbenkian, Lisbon; SMAK, Ghent or the Spanish Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. His latest exhibitions include La luz negra: Tradiciones secretas en el arte desde los años 50, CCCB Barcelona (2018); and a retrospective of Joana Vasconcelos, Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, Fundación Serralves, Oporto and Kunsthal Rotterdam (2018-19). He is currently preparing a major exhibition of Miquel Barceló for the National Museum of Osaka.

He is a member of the board of trustees of the Fundació Pilar y Joan Miró; of the Es Baluard acquisitions committee; and of the advisory committee of the Museu d´Art Contemporani de Eivissa.
