Catalog of the temporary exhibition by moroccan artists “Artistas singulares marroquíes”, 2014.
Sa Bassa Blanca Museum is pleased to present this exhibition catalog of approximately 50 works by unique Moroccan artists, especially from the Essaouira region – very colorful paintings and sculptures, beyond Art Brut or Naive Art and in a separate category –. In dialogue with these works we show some “tapestries-pictures”, highly original textiles made by women from the Azilah region with remains of wool and cotton left over from the manufacture of traditional carpets, sewn on supports of recycled rice or sugar bags. . The texts are by Yannick Vu, Frédéric Damgaard and Corrado Levi.
Temporary exhibition “Singular Moroccan Artists”. The exhibition had 56 works by 28 artists linked, mostly, to the city of Essaouira, in addition to 1 Boucharouite carpet and 10 examples of Zindekh tapestries-paintings, so closely linked to Moroccan tradition.
